October 25, 2026: It was a fantastic Open Science event! We shared how to reduce the environmental impact of steel production and how to engineer high-performance steel, using chocolate as a fun and accessible analogy. A big thank you to everyone for contributing to organizing and supporting this wonderful event! Jungwan Lee, Gyumin Park, Alice Dautezac, Daysianne Isidorio, Maria J. Santofimia Navarro, Vera Popovich, and Tubalkaïn MSE Study Association team. Sustainable steel for a brighter tomorrow and for future generations!
October 11, 2026: Yan has been listed again this year in the 2026 edition of the global database of top-cited scientists for single-year impact and, for the first time, listed in the database for career-long impact as well. Many thanks to all the team members, collaborators, mentors, and colleagues for their contributions and support.
August 23-26, 2026: Yan was invited as a keynote speaker at the 65th Conference of Metallurgy and Materials and presented our recent research on sustainable ironmaking with hydrogen.
December 8-9, 2025: Jungwan participated in the M2i conference in Papendal, Arnhem, the Netherlands. He had a poster presentation showing copper distribution in ferrite and pearlite in steel with intensive scientific questions and discussions.
November 28-29, 2025: our team participated in a synchrotron campaign at the P02.1 beamline of DESY in Hamburg, Germany. After an intensive 24-hour beamtime session, we took the opportunity to enjoy the Christmas Market in the city center of Hamburg. Prof. Xu Lu from NTNU (for a different synchrotron campaign at DESY) also joined us in the Christmas Market. 🎄
November 17-21, 2025: Yan attended the 8th International Conference on Advanced Steels in Shanghai, where he delivered an invited talk on hydrogen metallurgy. Also, Yan was invited by Prof. Dayong An to give a talk at Jiaotong University and by Prof. Jian Xu to deliver a Galen Invited Lecture at Chongqing University. It was a highly productive week filled with intensive scientific exchanges and discussions.
November 11, 2025: Yan and Jungwan attended the GGS consortium annual meeting in Ede, the Netherlands. In Jungwan’s first attendance at the consortium meeting, he delivered a pitch on the impact of impurity effects on austenite decomposition into ferrite and pearlite. Several colleagues showed interest in his research, leading to productive follow-up discussions!
